American Legion Post #56 hosting fundraiser
Legion Post to sell dinner plates this Friday to raise money
YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - As the Corona-Virus Pandemic spread across the country, businesses weren't the only ones to close their doors. Charities and donors alike just stopped what they were doing to take care of their own. As restrictions are slowly being lifted members of the American Legion Post #56 in Yuma had to take the risk and attempt to raise money for our veterans.
The risk is hosting an event and because of people's fears of coming out, the event ending in failure. But, legion members say they have to take the risk in order to help veterans and their families, especially now.
The Legion's Steve Mercado says, as a result, veterans now face many difficulties, including possible evictions, lack of food, or lack of funds to pay utility bills. That's why the post will sell dinner plates to raise those much needed funds.
