YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - As the Powerball jackpot gets bigger, so has its position in the lottery record books.

Wednesday, October 26, 2022's draw features the fifth largest Powerball jackpot at an estimated $700 million.

However, if no one claims the jackpot, it will increase to whopping $800 million this weekend.

While there has not been a Powerball jackpot winner since August, there were plenty of winners.

The state of California sold 55.4 million tickets.

Only 2.1 million tickets produced winners.

Thus, the winning tickets produced $15.2 million.

“People typically tend to think just about the jackpot, which is understandable when it gets this big,” said Carolyn Becker, California Lottery spokeswoman.

“But remember the odds of winning Powerball at any prize level are about 1 in 25, so even when someone doesn’t hit it big, there’s a good chance of winning something any time you play. And even if you don’t win, you’re still supporting California’s public schools, so it’s a good cause no matter what.”
