Pres. Biden and First Lady plant tree in honor of groundskeeper

WASHINGTON, D.C. (NBC) - President Joe Biden and Dr. Jill Biden celebrated longtime groundskeeper Dale Haney for his 50 years of service at the White House, by planting a new elm on the South Lawn.

Haney has spent 50 years as a part of the groundskeeping team at the Presidential Mansion.

The Bidens planted a new elm and dedicated the tree to Haney's, "Contributions to the beauty and abundance of the white house gardens."

Haney thanked the President and First Lady, and joked that he and Commander Biden, the first pup, will take advantage of the tree's shade next summer.
