Yuma County Recorder’s office tests voting tabulation equipment upon election
YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - This morning, the Yuma County Recorder's Office kicked off election season with a test to ensure votes in the upcoming election are counted accurately.
The Recorder's Office says this test is to make sure the tabulation equipment is ready to count votes for all local races, without making any errors.
“The logic and accuracy test is really the beginning of the voting period for our office. It’s required by law that we test our tabulation equipment before the election and after the election to ensure that it’s counting votes properly,” said Tiffany Anderson, Election Services Director.
One representative from each of the three political parties in Yuma County observed and certified the mock results today.
“This is the first time I’ve ever observed and watch what was going on and it was very very interesting. I am very appreciative of the fact that we have election county officials that know what they’re doing and are able to process our election force,” said Howard Blitz, Yuma County Libertarian Party Chairman.
There were a couple problems with the programming, however they were quickly resolved and passed the test.
Thursday the Arizona Secretary of State’s Office will conduct this test on Federal and State contests.
Early voting begins next week the same day mail in ballots will be sent out.
“We’re excited to open our brand new office to voters starting on July 6th. That same day anyone who requested an early ballot by mail will be receiving those within a few days after July 6th.”
Once early voting begins, you can drop off your ballot in any of the six drop boxes within the county or visit a voting location on August 2.
