Holding onto the heat before a surge of moisture arrives

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY-TV) - Today is another day with intense heat with highs reaching 100-115 for the next few days.

An Excessive Heat Warning has been extended until 8 p.m. TOMORROW for Imperial County, Yuma is also included.

A strengthening hurricane is tracking up Mexico's Pacific Coast and will affect the South part of the region's weather in the upcoming days.

Hurricane Kay is now issued as a Category 1 and has sustained winds of 90 MPH.

Kay will continue to travel northwest and be very near the west-central Baja California Peninsula.

Hurricane Kay will bring the possible potential for the Desert Southwest to experience some heavy rain showers and thunderstorms starting Friday through Monday.

With the increase in moisture, it will trend our temperatures down to below-normal in the upcoming days, but it will also be very muggy as dew points will rise into the upper 70s.
