AZ Reps to Biden: ‘Help is needed on the border now’
A plea is made to President Joe Biden regarding the border
YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - On April 21, two Arizona representatives wrote to the Biden administration wanting several actions to be considered regarding the U.S./ Mexico border.
Reps. Joanne Osborne (AZ-LD13) and Tim Dunn (AZ-LD13) are asking for more support for Border Patrol agents, as well as extending Title 42 until a plan is put in place to help migrants.
"Even though though the COVID-19 numbers warrant the expiration, we are asking for mitigation measures. Without these measures, we don't think it's an exaggeration to say the number of individuals that will cross the border into the United States without legal authorization is going to increase exponentially and the results will be no less than catastrophic," was written in the beginning of the letter.
Over 1,000 migrants have been processed in Yuma on a daily basis and many more are expected to add to those numbers when Title 42 is terminated.
"Help is needed on the border now, not potentially weeks from now," pleaded the letter.
While the representatives say Border Patrol may need more agents to help with the border crisis, migrants should also have a legal way to enter the United States rather than crossing illegally.
