San Luis celebrates Cesar Chavez Day

SAN LUIS, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - The Cesar Chavez Cultural Center is hosting a series of events Thursday morning to celebrate the life and legacy of Cesar Chavez.

Cesar Chavez was born in Yuma, Ariz. on March 31, 1927, he was an American farmworker, labor leader and civil rights activist, who co-founded the National Farm Workers Association, later the United Farm Workers union.

The celebration started with a mass then continuing with a march to the home where Chavez passed, followed by a closing ceremony at the Cesar Chavez Cultural Center.
