El Centro Sector Border Patrol agents rescue two women lost in mountains

OCOTILLO, Calif. (KYMA, KECY) - Border Patrol agents rescued two women in distress and lost in the mountains 23 miles west of Calexico.

U.S. Border Patrol said the incident happened last Saturday afternoon. El Centro Sector agents received a distress call from a woman claiming she was with another injured woman and needed medical assistance.

The El Centro Sector Border Search Trauma and Rescue (BORSTAR) agents quickly responded to the area and located the pair two hours later.

Agents said one of the women needed medical air evacuation and transferred her to Emergency Medical Service. Then, they took the woman to the hospital for additional treatment. As for the other woman, she did not need any medical treatment.

Agents processed the uninjured 21-year-old before she was expelled back to Mexico. Since October, agents have rescued 124 individuals lost or in distress.
