Fire Officials: Quechan Fire 90% contained
UPDATE: The Arizona Department of Fire Management (AZFS) sparked up a controlled burn Wednesday afternoon just after 2.
The purpose of the burning is to use up any dry brush which could potentially fuel another fire.

WINTERHAVEN, Calif. (KYMA, KECY) - The Quechan Fire that has been burning since Sunday is now 90 percent contained after destroying 180 acres, according to the Arizona Department of Forestry and Fire Management (AZFS).
The wildfire broke out just after 7 p.m. April 25 along North Levee Road and Quechan Drive.
Fire officials say no structures were damaged.
According to Rural Metro Fire (RMF), they received a call at 7:08 p.m. of a palm tree reportedly on fire. However, the initial cause of the fire is still under investigation. When fire crews arrived, the fire had consumed three acres of think brush, said Jessica Mendoza with RMF Yuma County operations.
