Julieanna’s Steak and Seafood win Wine Spectator Award, a first for Yuma
YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - Julieanna's Steak and Seafood won the Wine Spectator Award of Excellence last month.
The restaurant won due to having at least 90 wine selections on their menu and at least 900 bottles in their inventory.
While there are some restaurants that receive the award year after year, The Guzman Hospitality Group's Corporate Beverage Director Anna Kohler says this is the first award the City of Yuma has won.
"For Yuma, there's never been a caliber of a restaurant that is capable of a wine list of 90 selections. We were really thrilled to put that together, and so just to bring name recognition not only to Julieanna's Steak and Seafood, but also Yuma as a city, and kind of put Yuma on the map, in that regard, was really exciting for us. We try to make that known that this isn't just about us. This isn't just about this restaurant or the owners, or anything like that. This is about Yuma as a city and to the people that are here, and making sure that everybody is a part of the celebration. So, it takes a community to support a restaurant in order to be able to do these sorts of things," Kohler shared.
Once Julieanna's heard about their win, the staff held a celebration on June 27, where everybody from the Yuma community came and celebrated the restaurant and the City of Yuma's victory.
Kohler says she hopes the restaurant will apply for more wine spectator awards in the near future.
