Two-vehicle collision on US 95 involving children

Sheriff's Office currently investigating accident

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - The Somerton Cocopah Fire Department (SCFD) responded to a two-vehicle collision south of County 14th on U.S. Highway 95 Sunday at about 3 p.m.

"Arriving SCFD personal found a Ford Ranger pickup truck and a Chevrolet Cruze sedan with heavy damage from an apparent rear-end collision," describes SCFD Captain/Public Information Officer Javier Hernandez.

A mother driving the Chevrolet Cruze carried two children with her as passengers. The SCFD confirms Somerton Cocopah and Rural Metro ambulances transported all three in stable condition to YRMC for further evaluation.

However, according to the fire department, the two travelers in the Ford Ranger refused medical attention.

The Yuma County Sheriff's Office is currently investigating the cause of the accident.
