Arson suspect appears in court
Brawley.Calif(KECY.KYMA)- The suspect accused of setting multiple fires in calexico three weeks ago will be undergoing a mental health evaluation to see if he's fit to stand trial.
The suspect who we are not naming since he has yet to be formally charged is accused of setting four fires throughout Calexico including one at a storage facility.
District attorney George Marquez says the suspect will be evaluated by behavioral health services in imperial county.
“If there is a mental health disorder there is different options available obviously because of the nature of the crime... we are concern for public safety there is also has to be a punishment,” said George Marquez, Imperial County district attorney.
The suspect will back in court on May 1st and his bail is set for 100-thousand dollars.
