Unvaccinated are 17.5 times more likely to be hospitalized from COVID-19 compared to fully vaccinated

Ariz. (KYMA/ KECY) - An update from the Arizona Department of Health Services (ADHS) during November 2021 shows unvaccinated people were 17.5 times more likely to be hospitalized from COVID-19.

Data from ADHS also shows the unvaccinated were 4.9 times more likely to test positive for COVID-19 and 31.1 times more likely to die from COVID-19 in comparison to the fully vaccinated.

"We regularly tell Arizonans that COVID-19 vaccines dramatically reduce the risk of severe illness and death, along with reducing the chances that you will get infected," ADHS's blog says, "Adding a rate for hospitalization provides even stronger evidence for this protection."

ADHS urges the fully vaccinated to take advantage of getting a safe and effective booster dose.

Vaccines and boosters are continuously and broadly available. You can find a provider near you at azhealth.gov/FindVaccine
