California bank deals with “serious security”

DUBLIN, Calif. (NBC, KYMA/KECY) - A long-time credit union in California is dealing with what it calls a "serious security" incident, and many customers are finding many banking systems are unavailable while the issue is investigated further.

Close to half a million customers of the Dublin-based credit union have been left without access to their money due to the incident.

Patelco Credit Union has locations across California. The company told customers it had to shut down some of their "day-to-day banking systems" due to the incident.

The credit union has been working with cybersecurity teams since Saturday to resolve the issue and restore online services.

It is unclear when the problem will be resolved.
