Rare snake found in California homeowner’s couch

CALIFORNIA (KYMA, KECY/CNN) - Alex Trejo, the owner of a southern California rattlesnake removal company, was called when a seven foot long rattlesnake was found in a homeowners couch.

The incident occurred in Chula Vista and left Trejo surprised due to the rarity of the snake.

The Vietnamese Blue Beauty Rat Snake can grow up to eight feet long and is not venomous but can be "a bit defensive sometimes", according to Trejo.

He also stated "you'd be more lucky to find a rolex sitting on the ground than a snake like this."

Both the homeowner and Trejo are unsure of where the snake came from but believe that the snake may have been a pet that got away from its owner.

The snake was found to have a respiratory infection and was taken to Trejo's colleague for treatment.
