USBP: 4-year-old safely recovered after being kidnapped by mother
SAN DIEGO, Calif. (KYMA, KECY) - U.S. Border Patrol San Diego Sector agents help Mexican officials rescue a four-year-old after they say his mother kidnaped him.
U.S. Border Patrol said the mother kidnapped her son on May 4 from East Los Angeles and took him to Tijuana. They said after weeks of investigative work by the Government of Mexico, they were able to located both mother and son and taken into custody.
On May 5, the Los Angeles Sheriff's Department contacted the San Diego Sector for assistance in recovering the child. As a result, the child was safely returned to his legal guardians.
"This is a prime example of the binational coordination and cooperation between the Government of Mexico and our agency,” said U.S. Border Patrol San Diego Sector Chief Patrol Agent Aaron Heitke, "As a result of this joint effort, this child has been safely returned home.”
