Senator Kelly speaks out on allowing border travel for vaccinated visitors

Arizona Senator's response to border travel

Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - On October 13, Arizona Senator Mark Kelly released a statement about the government resuming border travel for vaccinated travelers.

“Arizona border mayors and small business owners have been making clear the devastating impact that the pandemic and these travel restrictions have had on our local economies," began Kelly.

"It’s about time Washington listened to Arizonans. Arizona will once again be able to welcome customers and tourists who come through ports of entry to visit our state. I will continue working with Republicans and Democrats to ensure smart border security and support border communities through this pandemic to make sure they recover quickly.”

Earlier this year, the Department of Homeland Security received a bipartisan letter from Kelly and other senators wanting a plan to return to normal travel options.

The Biden administration have also received letters from Arizona leaders about the negative impact local economies have suffered due to strict travel restrictions.

Senator Kelly has been in talks with Arizona officials to ensure they get the support needed for their communities and economies.
