Some of the tigers rescued from ‘Tiger King Park’ find new home in Arizona
VALENTINE, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - Seven cats rescued from the Tiger King park are transferred to a northern Arizona animal sanctuary.
AzFamily reported Keepers of the Wild, a sanctuary located in Valentina, Ariz. is caring for seven of its 69 cats.
However, the U.S. Department of Justice continues to seek permanent confiscation of the animals. In addition, officials removed the cats from Oklahoma after officials investigated Jeff Lowe due to "ongoing Endangered Species Act violations."
Keepers’ Founder and Director, Jonathan Kraft, commented on the rescue: “We are so grateful to have the opportunity to care for these wonderful animals and to work with federal agencies and other accredited sanctuaries to help rescue and protect endangered animals. Thank you to all the sanctuaries involved in this operation, for your professionalism, kindness, and cooperation. It took a skilled team of many people to make this happen.”
The park was once formerly owned by Joe Exotic, who was arrested and convicted for "federal murder-for-hire statutes and violations of the Lacey Act and Endangered Species Act," according to AzFamily.
