Two Amtrak train cars detail in D.C., no injuries reported

WASHINGTON, D.C. (NBC, KYMA/KECY) - Two Amtrak train cars derailed Tuesday morning at a tunnel entrance in Washington, D.C.

About 200 people were on board and firefighters worked to get passengers off the train and take them to a nearby hotel.

No injuries were initially reported, but at least one passenger was being evaluated by medics on the scene. The derailment caused quite a delay for many, leaving some passengers not too pleased.

"I mean frustrated. We've heard about derailments all over the country and this is another result of reducing regulations and it is running everyone's day and there are people that have to go to work and I have to go to work and we can't find any other alternative," said one passenger.

"I'm real upset, but God woke me up today. So I'm not going to sweat it, but Amtrak is (makes hand motion) 'no more,'" said another passenger.

The train had come from Norfolk and was headed north into Union Station when the cars derailed.
