CUSD responds to arrest of substitute teacher
The Calexico Police Department sent a press release on Wednesday about the arrest of a CUSD substitute teacher
CALEXICO, Calif. (KYMA, KECY) - The Calexico Unified School District (CUSD) says the substitute teacher suspected of molesting a 16-year-old child will not be allowed back to any school in the district.
CUSD said in a press release they can't share any more details about the arrest.
CUSD says they immediately reported the incident once aware of the allegations to the Calexico Police Department.
The substitute teacher was placed on administrative leave by CUSD and was removed from the campus.
According to CUSD, they require their employees to clear a fingerprint criminal background check through the Department of Justice.
And their staff needs to complete sexual harassment prevention and Title IX training every year says CUSD.
CUSD says they have a team of Counselors, School Psychologists, and Licensed Clinical Social Workers to support their students and staff.
If there are any student or school safety concerns, they can be reported to CUSD's "Anonymous Tip” line at cusdk12.org or by speaking with your school's administrator.
