Virginia Walmart shooting leaves 6 dead
(CNN, KYMA/KECY) - Authorities are investigating a shooting at a Walmart in Chesapeake, Virginia that left multiple people dead and injured.
It's believed the shooter was an employee or former employee who walked into a break room and opened fire on other employees.
Authorities believe the shooter turned the gun on himself and is deceased and say at least six people were killed.
Officers responded to the scene just after 10 p.m. last night.
Police say they were still looking for more potential victims in today's early morning hours.
It's not believed any law enforcement officers fired shots during the response.
The ATF's Washington field division mobilized to Virginia to provide assistance.
Walmart released a statement saying quote “We are shocked at this tragic event."
The statement went on to say, "We're praying for those impacted, the community and our associates. We're working closely with law enforcement, and we are focused on supporting our associates.”
