City of Brawley receives a check from Senator Hueso to remove the Hinojosa Park water tower
BRAWLEY, Calif. (KYMA, KECY) - Senator Ben Hueso (D-Calif.) presented a $200,000 check to the City of Brawley for the safe removal of the Hinojosa Park water tower.
A press release stated the funds will let the City of Brawley tear down the water tower before it becomes a health safety concern and hazard to the community.
“This water tower is only a potential hazard to nearby residents,” said State Senator Ben Hueso (D-40). “I’m proud to have worked for the City of Brawley to help them take down this eyesore and ensure its neighboring residents have a safe and beautiful Hinojosa Park to play in.”
“First, I would like to thank Senator Hueso, his staff, and the state for providing this funding for Brawley,” said Brawley Mayor Sam Couchman. “We have discussed the water tower for many years, its current non-used status, and potential future concerns. This funding enables Brawley to be proactive as regards this issue, it’s effect on the park, and enables better usage of the existing space for both current and future park enjoyment.”
