Oak Fire continues to scorch as crews face severe challenges

(KYMA, KECY/ NBC News) - California's Oak Fire has now burned more than 16,000 acres near Yosemite National Park.

At least 10 homes have already been lost, some with their entire properties destroyed. Meanwhile, cars have been completely charred and burnt to a crisp.

At least 3,000 people have been forced to evacuate their homes due to the fire.

More than 2,000 crew members are battling the fire which is now just 10% contained.

According to Cal Fire, the teams are utilizing more than a dozen helicopters, 281 fire engines and more than 40 water tenders.

Officials say extremely dry conditions and high winds are challenging fire crews..but they are optimistic they'll have containment by the end of the month.
