Court for two women arrested at pro-choice rally postponed
YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - The two woman who were arrested at a pro-choice rally in Downtown Yuma, Friday night were set to appear in court Tuesday morning.
The woman and their supporters showed up, Tuesday morning for the court date, only to find out it was changed to Thursday.
According to another protestor, Peyton Ortiz, the women were peacefully protesting but were arrested for allegedly blocking traffic.
Ortiz says people were throwing things out of the car toward protesters, honking and screaming at them, and even trying to drive through the crowd.
Organizers of the protest created an instagram post to get the word out to help raise bail money for the two women arrested.
Ortiz says the bail was about $550 each and they were successful with raising the proceeds because by Saturday morning, the two women were released.
