YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - Yuma residents got together this morning, all in honor of those fighting heart disease.
The event started at Riverside Park, and those who participated walked all the way to West Wetlands park. Which is about a 1.8 mile journey, about 40 people came out for the walk, and to support Chicanos Por La Causa, who organized the whole thing.
Patricia Miranda is an education specialist with Chicanos Por La Causa, and was one of the people who helped lead the effort.
Miranda mentioned how happy she was to see people come out to support.
“I feel so heartwarming, supportive, I appreciate them, they came out to support me and this great cause and to also support the people who are surviving a heart attack, that they know that they have support from us,” Miranda said.
The event took place at around 10:00 a.m. Saturday morning, and lasted about an hour.
