Want an internship? Get ready, get set…
Career Specialist Lea Soto-Graham says students enrolled in internships should map out their days
YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - With summer quickly approaching local teens are either eager to unplug or suit up for their summer internship. Whether, it's working alongside mechanics in the auto trade, learning the ins and outs of agriculture or even just working in an office, career experst say it pays off to think ahead.
Lea Soto-Graham with the Goodwill Career Center of Yuma encourages students to map out their daily schedule. This will maximize what they learn and the impression they leave with a possible future employer.
Soto-Graham says that every minute of the day should be accounted for. So, students should take everything into account when making out their schedule, such as getting ready, commute time and when their new shift starts.
Soto-Graham says it's always best to be at least 20-minutes early and it's vital that interns don't hesitate to ask questions. She adds that in order to do the job right, you need to know exactly what's being asked of you.
