Saving a life is as simple as signing up

PHOENIX, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - It's an unexpected side-effect of a global pandemic. The number of people signing up to be organ donors has dropped in Arizona.

Donate Arizona says most people sign up to become donors at the DMV. But, with extended expiration dates, and social distancing requirements, fewer people are visiting local offices. That means fewer people are become organ donors. In fact, new registrations are down 50% from last year.

The non-profit that runs Arizona's registry, the Donor Network of Arizona, want to remind you that signing up is quick and easy. It takes less than 40-seconds. Just go to DonateLifeAZ.org for more information and instructions on how to sign up.

And remember - just one organ donor can save eight lives. One tissue donation could help heal up to 75 more people.
