Texas teen killed after standing up to bully
ARLINGTON, Texas (KYMA, KECY) - A teenager who stood up for a smaller kid against a bully, was shot dead by the bully days later.
According to NBC News, police said that after the teen broke up a fight between the smaller boy and the bully, the teen started having problems of his own with the suspect.
NBC News reports it was Thursday where police said they responded to a call after 4:30 pm and found 16-year-old Samuel Reynolds with a gunshot wound.
Reynolds was transported to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.
It was reported that the suspected shooter was between 13 to 15 years old and lives in the same apartment complex as the Reynolds family.
The school's principal said that the suspect was not a student at the high school Reynolds attended.
According to NBC News, the suspect said he was not involved in the shooting, but police proved otherwise with footage from the apartment complex that recorded the entire incident.
Police said the suspect pulled out a handgun from the back of his pants when he pointed it to Reynolds and shot him once.
The teen is in custody and is facing a murder charge. However, it remains unclear if he will be tried as an adult or a child.
