Tax Tip Tuesday: It’s officially tax season
Tax Tip #1: Wait for all tax forms
YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA) - It’s officially tax season.
Monday marked the day people could start filing tax returns.
In an effort to simplify the process, News 11 is introducing its annual Tax Tip Tuesday.
Of course, when tax season rolls around, some people are excited about a hefty refund, but for many, the filing process can be a little intimidating.
IRS Special Agent, Brian Watson, answered some of the most common tax questions.
The first thing tax filers should do is retrieve all tax forms before filing.
If you're a W-2 wage earner, Watson says everyone should have their W-2's by the end of January.
Never forget to report all of your income.
“It’s important to make sure you have all of your W-2’s. Not everyone just works one job throughout the year. People change jobs, have multiple jobs, or they’ve moved. So it’s very important that you gather all those W-2s before you file your tax return."
Once you have all of your W-2's Watson says people can file right away.
As a reminder, the due date this year is April 15th.
