Man accused of killing woman missing from Tulare County, California

MEXICALI, Mexico (KYMA, KECY) - A man wanted in connection with the murder of a missing woman from central Californa is behind bars.

U.S. Marshalls, Imperial County Sheriff's deputies, and Mexican Federal law enforcement arrested Adel Hussein at a hotel in Mexicali, Mexico around 11 Thursday morning.

Hussein was wanted for the murder of 36-year-old Brittney Steenbergen. Steenbergen disappeared from her home in Tulare, County on December 28. Her body was found dumped by the side of a road in Imperial County on January 3.

Hussein was Steenbergen's estranged boyfriend. He's also the father of her children.

He's been booked into the Imperial County Jail to await extradition to Tulare County to stand trial.
