UPDATE Yuma Firefighters respond to Kincade fires

Last week a Yuma Fire Department ( YFD ) strike force responded to Riverside, California to help battle the blazing wildfires. Now they battle the Kincade fire in Northern California.

Upon arriving in Riverside County , YFD personnel aided the city of Beaumont until Saturday, October 26, responding to any brush fire reports in the region.

As of late Saturday, the YFD team was assigned to battle the notorious Kincade Fire in Sonoma County, California — over 700 miles away from Yuma County.

The team arrived late Sunday morning and worked through the night protecting structures from fires. As of Monday morning, the team is getting some rest before returning to their duties.

YFD reports the team is doing well and is in good spirits.

The Kincade fire continues to burn in Northern California. It has destroyed nearly 70 thousand acres and is only five percent contained.
