Man arrested for sexual assault with minor arraigned

A man accused sexually assaulting an underaged girl appeared in court Monday for his arraignment at Yuma County Superior Court.

Twenty-three-year-old Gilbert Antonio Lopez-Vargas was arrested for charges of sexual assault and sexual conduct of a minor.

Lopez-Vargas’s bail is set as a $200,000 cash-only bond.

The assault occurred in October 2018 and the victim did not know the suspect.

His conditions of release hearing will take place on July 29 at 11 a.m. and the case management conference will take place on August 8 at 8:30 a.m.
