Driver injured after hitting parked cars at dealership

A driver was injured after crashing into two parked cars at a Somerton dealership early Monday morning.

Somerton Cocopah Fire Department ( SCFD ) said firefighters arrived at the scene of a reported collision at 18516 South Highway 95. They found a white Subaru station wagon in a car dealership located on the west side of Highway 95 in Gadsden.

The driver, a 28-year-old man, complained of a forehead laceration and pain to his neck and right knee. He told authorities he had temporarily lost consciousness upon impact. The driver added he was heading northbound on Highway 95 and for unknown reasons, he veered across three traffic lanes.

SCFD said he struck, jumped the curb, and the edge of the cement parking lot of a car dealership. This caused his vehicle to hit a black Dodge Pickup and pushing it about 20-feet away. A second vehicle was also sideswiped in the process. All the airbags in the Subaru deployed.

He also admitted that he was not wearing his seat belt and struck the front windshield.

The man was transported to a local hospital and Yuma County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the crash.
