Mother of boy with autism raising money for service dog

A mother in Brawley is trying to raise money for a service dog for her son with autism.

Heather’s son Austin was diagnosed with level 2 autism. She shared that the seven-year-old boy is prone to running off and harming himself and others.

She added that if they are able to get him a service dog, he’d be able to cope with his disability.

“What the dog will do, it can sense Austin starting to get having frustrated or overstimulated, under stimulated. Anxiety starts kicking in for him. The dog will just sit on him or start putting his paws on Austin to do some form of pressure massage,” said Heather.

Heather, along with her friend, is taking pre-orders for shirts that support autism. Half of the proceeds will go towards the fundraiser.
