Border Patrol agents confiscate almost $273K worth of meth

Border Patrol agents confiscated almost $273,000 worth of methamphetamine in two separate incidents over the weekend.

Agents sent a white 2009 Chevrolet Equinox to secondary inspection on Friday at around 8:45 a.m. after a Border Patrol canine alerted to the vehicle. Agents searched the vehicle to find 40.78 pounds of methamphetamine hidden in the roof.

The narcotics have an approximate value of $122,340. The driver, a 24-year-old female United States citizen, was arrested for possession and transport of illegal drugs.

The second incident happened on Sunday at around 1:15 a.m. when a Border Patrol canine alerted to a gray 2000 Chevrolet Tahoe. Agents searched the vehicle and found 50.2 pounds of meth inside a spare tire.

The drugs have an estimated worth of $150,600. The driver, a 21-year-old male Mexican national, was arrested for possession and transport of illegal drugs.
