Firefighters and residents battle trees on fire

Rural Metro Fire Department responded to trees on fire on Avenue C and 7th Street at around 5 p.m. Wednesday.

Multiple 911 calls were made reporting trees were on fire. Fire crews arrived on scene and stated trees along with a warehouse on both sides of 7th Street caught fire.

Edgar Andrade was home with his younger siblings when a neighbor frantically knocked on his door telling them their home was on fire. He rushed to see what was happening and found the Fire was coming from a neighbors property. He along with neighbors used garden hoses to slow the fire and stop it from spreading. Edgar says the property behind his home is large and has large amounts of brush and palm trees.

According to Rural Metro, no homes caught fire and no injuries were reported.
