Man sentenced to 62 years in prison for shooting

A man is sentenced to over 60 years in prison for a shooting that happened early this year.

25-year-old Calexico resident Ali Bahrambeyghi was senteced to 62 years to life in prison by a superior court this week.

He was arrested early this year for allegedly shooting a man with a shotgun over a personal dispute.

A few days after the shooting, Bahrambeyghi was seen walking in the street by an off duty police officer and followed. He hid in the backyard of a house but the off duty officer was able to lead police to where he was.

Police said Bbahrambeyghi had a prior record which may have affected his sentence.

Detective Armando Orozco said, “Prior arrests, the type of crime, if there’s anything that exaggerates the crime, like gang membership or the type of weapon used. All that is taken into account when they charge the cases.”

The victim of the shooting survived the attack, but lost his knee.
