Yuma police investigating four fires within 3 hours

Yuma Fire Officials responded to four fires in Yuma’s north end on Tuesday night. A little after 11:30 p.m. officials responded to a fire off 9th street and 1st Avenue at a vacant home. Firefighters quickly put out the fire before midnight.

Soon after a trash bin had been reported to be on fire between 4th Street and 10th Avenue. That fire was quickly extinguished.

Fire officials also received a call around 2:00 a.m. of another house on fire off West 4th Street. Within 30 minutes firefighters put out the flames. There were three residents inside of the home at the time of the fire. They were alerted to the fire by a smoke alarm and safely evacuated. The fire damaged most of the enclosed porch and the residents will not be allowed to return until repairs are done. The American Red Cross has responded and assisted with the displaced residents.

At 2:30 a.m. officials responded to 4th Street and extinguished a fence that was on fire.

Yuma Firefighters responded to all four fires within three hours. Yuma police are working with fire officials to determine if the fires are connected.
