Topic of the Day: First Line of Defense
13 On Your Side wants to know your thoughts:
Not long ago the border between the Desert Southwest and our southern neighbors was nothing more than a line of barbed wire and in many places there was nothing at all. Soon, with the aide of the National Guard and the Army Corps. of Engineers, the Department of Homeland Security built a fence reducing the number of illegal crossings dramatically.
Present Day, our border consists of steel plated fences, sensors, high resolution cameras with the latest advances in thermal imaging and a force of federal agents patrolling the southern border by land, air and a sea of sorts (Colorado River).
On Capitol Hill, the border is a hot button issue with both sides agreeing to strengthen our borders. What is not agreed on, is just how to make that happen.

How serious is border security to you?
