Neighborhood alarmed by heavy police activity

Neighbors saw heavy police activity and heard deputies speaking through an intercom to residents inside a home during a possible burglary.

Yuma County Sheriff’s Office deputies and Yuma Police Department officers were called out to Ninth Street and 20th Avenue at around 3:00 p.m.

Deputies said there were no injuries and no arrests made during the call.

Police and deputies left around 3:45 p.m. Officers canvassed the area.

“I came out of my residence and witnessed at least nine to 10 city PD vehicles and several officers and at least one to two sheriff’s department vehicles here and I heard some PD officers,” said George C. Munoz who lives in the area.
