Harvest Prep damaged by arson fire

Yuma Fire Department officials said a fire was intentionally set in a Harvest Preparatory Academy bathroom:

5:00 p.m.

Three eighth-grade students have been suspended in connection to the fire. However, school officials said they are still not sure who exactly started the fire. They add that they may be more student suspensions as they gather more information.

Officials said they found roll of toilette paper in the boys high school bathroom. The fire was extinguished by a middle school teacher.

The fire was reported about 10 minutes before school was dismissed for the day, according to school officials.

3:55 p.m.

Fire Officials said the building was evacuated once the fire alarm went off.

The blaze only caused small damage.

The fire was reported at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

Fire officials said the Yuma Police Department will be investigating the incident after investigators ruled it as an act of arson.
