Brawley woman facing felony child molestation charges in court this morning

It’s a story that has shaken parents across the desert southwest.

A Brawley woman who is facing felony child molestation charges appeared in court this morning.

If Deveaux is convicted of all the charges she faces a maximum penalty of life in prison.

Not much happened in court today as the prelim trial was rescheduled to May 5th.

Diane Christina Deveaux appeared in the Brawley West Department of the imperial County Superior Court Monday morning in front of Judge Poli Flores Jr.

She seemed to be in good health with not much expression on her face. Deveaux is facing eight counts of forcible lewd acts on a child and seven counts of penetration or oral copulation of a child under the age of ten.

These charges come after Deveaux allegedly admitted she molested multiple children while broadcasting the acts via webcam to a male acquaintance in Florida.

The trial was rescheduled due to more outstanding discovery as both parties will now meet and further investigate what evidence or information has come to light.

“Were trying to resolve, there is a little more investigation and a little bit more outstanding discovery and some further dialog I need to have with the district attorney’s office,” said Alicia Freeze, Criminal Defense Attorney.

She was taken into custody February 13th after investigators with the Imperial Valley Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force discovered evidence of child molestation during a search of her apartment.
