A New Year’s Resolution that’s hard to keep
It seems like every time the New Year Ball drops, everyone wants to drop the weight and head to the gym…but how long does the commitment last?
Bobby Gomez is a personal trainer at World Gym in Yuma. He usually gets many clients around this time of the year who want to see a change in the upcoming year.
“I think weight loss is a goal for everyone that obtains to it to fit with everyone’s busy lifestyle.”
“Losing Weight” is one of the most popular New Year’s Resolutions, making local gyms see an increase in memberships.
“January first, is everyone’s “New Year New Me”, I think it’s something everyone struggles with. Then February, March, it kind of fizzles out but we try to keep them here.People get discouraged, they don’t see results rapidly enough. They don’t see quick results so they think what they’re doing is a waste of time.”
From Thanksgiving turkey to Christmas sweets, it all adds up.Quick workouts at home and staying away from the leftover sweets is a head start to your fitness goal for 2017.
“It’s common for someone to gain 7 to 12 pounds just with the holiday eating. So, home workouts you can do in fifteen minutes, you can do high interval training, a round of burpees or situps, some sprints out in the yard or on the street, couple laps around the block some pull ups or pushups. Vegetables or Fruits instead of breakfast bars and stuff like…protein supplements are always good.”
