3rd Annual Pride March for Visibility took place in Yuma
YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - The 3rd Annual Pride March for Visibility took place in Yuma on Friday.
Over 100 people marched down 4th Avenue celebrating Pride Month and showing their support for our local LGBTQ+ community.
The organizers say this event is not a protest but more of a peaceful demonstration.
They also shared that the Yuma Regional Medical Center (YRMC) sponsored the event as well as a year of monthly activities like book clubs, game nights, and support groups.
"A March for Visibility is important because it shows people who might be feeling alone that people that can relate to them are out here and it also shows people that just don't want to believe pride is in Yuma that it is…It's a strong community here in Yuma," says Peyton Ortiz, the Event Organizer.
The family-friendly ended at Cafecito in Downtown Yuma, where participators gathered to celebrate and even got to enjoy a drag show with local performers.
