‘Books, can only go so far,’ says HPA Student Zayid Barbosa
Barbosa talks about an outing where instead of reading about business, they went to one
YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - Harvest Preparatory Academy is known for using a variety of methods to ensure that its students are ready for the real world. So, it's no surprise to hear that its Life Skills class took a special trip to visit one of Desert Southwest's premier entertainment destinations.
"Books, can only go so far," said Zyid Barbosa an HPA student enrolled in the school's dual-credit program. Barbosa says that although he learns from using books or computers, nothing beats the in-person experience.
Itzel Gustos, seconds that, she says that in order to learn about the ins and outs of the business world, you have to talk to a businessowner. Gustos says that she plans to open her own business after college, so these experiences are helping her prepare.
On Thursday, HPA students and staff visited The ZFun Factory Family Entertainment Center. There they spoke face to face with the owner.
They got to see what the product was and in this case its entertainment and food. They also got to see what it takes to run the entire compound.
ZFun Factory offers customers go-karts, bumper boats, mini-golf, an arcade, and during the summer months a water park. The owner also spoke to them about what he had to do to get a business loan for the park.
