Stolen Colorado vehicle hits ambulance, five people injured

LAKEWOOD, Colo. (NBC) - Five people traveled to the hospital after the driver of a stolen vehicle hit an ambulance.

It happened around 5:40pm when Lakewood officers approached a stolen Jeep.

The driver then sped off and then ran into a West Metro Fire ambulance, rolling it onto its side.

According to officials, there were no patients onboard the ambulance at the time of the incident, and the crew was not on its way to an emergency.

Two firefighters inside the ambulance then traveled to the hospital for further evaluation.

Afterwards, the firefighters left the hospital after doctors concluded their evaluations.

According to West Metro, three people were inside the stolen Jeep, one of which had to be extricated from the vehicle.

All three went to the hospital.

However, the extent of their injuries is unknown.
