Yuma Elks Lodge hosts Flag Day service 

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - The United States of America celebrates Flag Day on June 14, a patriotic day set aside to honor old glory.

The nation celebrates adopting the U.S. flag back in 1777.

The Second Continental Congress passed a resolution to acknowledge the 13 stripes and stars.

Here in the Desert Southwest, locals show their pride in the flag and our country.

John Petersen, a Foothills resident said, “I just feel we need to support our country in good times and bad and do the best we can.” 

The Elks Lodge in Yuma hosted a flag day service Wednesday evening.

A local boy scout troop participated in the ceremony and newly appointed Eagle Scout, Jack Thompson received honors and expressed his pride for Flag Day “it is very important for our country, the flag is a great significance, each part of it has a great meaning and always great to respect it.
