Box Truck and Motorhome suffer minor injury crash
IMPERIAL COUNTY, Calif. (KYMA, KECY) - A minor injury crash occurred on Sunday, November 6, 2022, at approximately 2:27pm.
For further context, the incident happened on Interstate 8 (I-8) of Dunaway Road.
Additionally, two vehicles, a 2003 International 4300 Box Truck and a 2006 Beaver Monterrey Motorhome, suffered damages.
Details about the crash
While the Box Truck was heading down I-8 eastbound west, the Motorhome was heading westbound west.
Furthermore, the occupant of the Box Truck was a 62-year-old male from Santee, California whereas there were three occupants of the Motorhome.
They were a 50-year-old male, a 12-year-old female, and a 10-year old male from Las Vegas, Nevada.
For unknown reasons, the Box Truck driver struggled to maintain its lane of travel and drive onto the center median.
From there, the two vehicles collided.
Aftermath
As a result of the crash, the Box Truck driver sustained minor injuries, but refused medical attention.
On the other hand, the Motorhome driver's passengers also sustained minor injuries and sought medical attention.
Upon arrival, the medical personnel transported the 12-year-old female passenger to Rady's Children Hospital in San Diego.
This was via Mercy air ambulance.
Meanwhile, the on-site medical staff transported the 10-year-old male passenger to El Centro Regional Medical Center (ECRMC).
The transport was via American Medical Response ground ambulance.
Ongoing investigation
So far, the California Highway Patrol (CHP) found that all parties wore their seatbelts at the time of the crash.
While impairment did not factor into the crash, the investigation remains ongoing.
