US quashes Russia trade status, halts imports of alcohol, seafood
WASHINGTON (KYMA, KECY/AP) - President Joe Biden along with the European Union and the Group of Seven countries stated the United States is revoking the "favored nation" status of Russia because of its invasion of Ukraine.
On Friday, the president said the U.S. is going to ban imports of Russian commodities like seafood, alcohol and diamonds.
By doing this, the U.S. and allies are able to impose stronger tariffs on several Russian imports to the U.S.
Pres. Biden's effort comes as bipartisan anticipation has built up in Washington repeal what was known as "permanent normal trade relations" with Russia.
