Border Patrol agents seize meth hidden in car engine
SALTON CITY, Calif. (KYMA, KSWT, KECY) - Border patrol agents really do see everything.
Agents discovered a man attempting to smuggle meth hidden inside the engine of his car.
Sunday morning El Centro Border Patrol (ECBP) agents at the Highway 86 checkpoint were alerted to a vehicle by a K-9 detection team.
Agents discovered a package of meth stashed in an aftermarket compartment inside the engine's intake manifold.
The 12 pounds of meth have an estimated value of 24,000 dollars. It and the vehicle have been turned over to the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA).
The man, a U.S. citizen, has also been turned over to the DEA.
This is an example of the dedicated agents in the El Centro Sector,” said Acting Chief Patrol Agent Ryan J. Scudder.
“Our agents are not only dedicated, but also experienced, and this seizure highlights the pride they take in safeguarding our communities from dangerous narcotics.”
